Review: After The Ending

Got this book free on Amazon. Such gems can be found on Amazon. Such as this one. This is a book where a virus literally kills off majority of the human population. Think ‘The Walking dead’ without zombies. What would be zombies in this book are called crazies, the reason they’re called crazies is because survivors of the virus have changed. Every single person. Some go crazy in some sort of way, and others have some kind of special ability.

So this book is in the point of view between two people Dani and her best friend Zoe. When the virus strikes they are across the country from each other. Zoe’s brother Jason tells Zoe to head for Colorado Springs, and he’ll get Dani and do the same.

So going through the book, you’ll see what is happening to each girl and the people they are with or have met.

The minute I picked up this book, I didn’t want to put it down. But it’s a big book, and well worth the length. Because there is so much information in it, but not too much where it’s fillers or dead space. It’s literally something pertinent to the story the whole way through.

My final thought on this book besides the fact that it’s super amazing is.... do not make this book into a movie or a tv series. As any loss of any information from this book would be tragic.

Review: Acts of Mercy

Acts of Mercy by Ciara Graves

Got this book free on Amazon. I'm glad I decided to read new books to me this month because I've come up with some really good reads. This one is definitely on top.

This book is about a bounty hunter named Mercy, she gets a bounty that is going to pay a high amount, well she comes across a demon named Raphael. And an interesting pairing comes to light.

What I love about this book, is that it's super easy to get into, and honestly, I did not want to put it down, two the heroine and main male didn't instantly get into the sack. They're building up into something, what it will become will be fun to read. But the best part is that they both have some kind of history that they tend to keep on the back burner, and I love how you find little details here and there.

I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

Review: Allied Mage

Allied Mage by Janelle Peel

I received this book from the author herself. I must say this series is really shaping up to be an extremely good series. I liked how though the story is still basically set on Sora the dhampire mage. But yet it gives us more on other characters such as. viv and Jackson though their part was slightly lackluster, they could’ve played coy a little longer for my liking. But neither here nor there, continuing on we met Natalie a young mage from the LA clutch.

This brings another side of the story, won’t go into details much on here because if do it would bring spoilers. And I’m not about spoilers. But along with Natalie we’re also introduced to a five year old shifter pup named Bex, cutest thing ever!!

So not only do you have Sora bringing all factions together vampires, shifters, the human ilk of the clutch. You also get to have more revealed on the mages side as well.

The best part of this book is that it’s easy to get into and easy to read. And you get different characters POVs. You also get to know the nitty gritty of how one feels while they’re going through the motions of things. Makes it more livid in the imagination when you’re reading these.

Review: The Accidental Demon Slayer

Got this book free from Amazon....
Before reading this book, I read the reviews. Some of them were on the positive side, but there was a lot that was on the negative side. And so with that, I was a little hesitant on reading this book. But I did, and yes there was some parts that I groaned and was like omg this character is going to be yuck, and needs to grow some figurative balls. Talking about the main character Lizzie. Who is very self preserved and very uptight, she said words like H-E- double hockey sticks. Of course, I rolled my eyes on this, because not even the prissiest person talks like this.

However, even with the cutsie wootsie talk, which gets less annoying the longer your read. I got pretty hooked into this story. Overall, the book was really good. And to hear that it started one night on an envelope while taking care of a fussy infant. Just goes to show that inspiration can strike at anytime.

I definitely will be continuing this series, because not only has Lizzie grown on me, Dimitri entices me, and the red skulls they are a hoot.... also Pirate the dog... can forget that.

Review: Vampire Mage

I got this book free from Amazon.com, I'm glad I did!!

OMG! this book, this book. This is the first of the Clutch Mistress Series by Janelle Peel. The moment I started this book, I could not stop reading. And honestly I'm very sad at the moment that it's over and I have to wait until payday to get the next or even the rest of what's currently out in the series.

It's been a long time since a book caught my fancy so quickly and so deeply. I'm just in awe.
The story is completely amazing!
The writing flawless, I also like the way the POV's were setup.
The characters amazingly done, very detailed, and nothing was rushed. Everything flowed so smoothly that it made the story just so vivid in my imagination.

Sora her character being the lead female character, the author didn't make her mild or meek...mostly. She is fierce she is loud and proud. And the author didn't make her be the type of character I usually will roll my eyes on a few times. She is well balanced.
Blaze the author didn't make him too macho, but macho enough to get that rawr factor going.

However, currently my faves are Viv & Jackson, their dynamic is highly entertaining, and I can't wait to read more about them. Viv, is so sarcastic and saucy and Jackson is so um almost serious it's going to be super entertaining to read more about them.

But if you are looking for a new series to sink your teeth or claws into, then this book is a must!!!

Review: The Queen's Mark

I got this book for free from Amazon. It sat in my library for not a long period of time actually. The reason I decided to read this book now, is because it's part of a book challenge i'm doing.

So reading the synopsis, it sounds like it's going to be a steamy reverse harem- urban fantasy. Ehhh it has the potential for sure. It definitely has potential, that's why I am going to read the second book in the future to see if things calm down, and go more at an even pace.

But for me it was a huge let down. It felt very rushed, there was no build. One minute she's striving for her independence in life, the next weary of these four men, to going as far as saying you love them. There was nothing sexual, which was a plus because then it would've really felt rushed.

There was inconsistencies in the book, how on moment she was talking about her olive skin, then the next one of the guys was saying it was bronze. Mild grammatical errors. I'm hoping it was just a first book blooper thing and the rest of the books get better.... here's hoping

Review: Hunted

Well number 6 of the Iron Druid Chronicles series Kevin Hearne. This is definitely a step up from Trapped. Hunted took you on a whole new level of adventures, with so much going on you'd think it would be hard to keep up however it flowed quite smoothly.

However, the first time the POV change it did confuse me for a sentence or two, but then it became the norm for the book though there weren't too many.

This book though will definitely get you the feelers, I mean you grow with each character in a book, and when something happens, you feel that as well.

But alas, there are happy times in this book too, as well as the glorious laughs you get with these books, the quips are just downright hilarious.

I'm quite interested on what's going to happen in the next book, and this one leaves you with a "Oh Snap!" at the end. OH SNAP!

Review: Trapped

So it definitely took a minute to finish this book. Stupid work, stupid holidays. Any-who finally finished. It was a good book in the long run, however there seemed to be more filler area's and long winded explanation, that at times I found myself struggling to keep up. But maybe that's because I am a more of the get to the point, than drag on with a backstory. Even though when i'm telling a story I have to have that backstory, lol. I'm complicated. One thing I did enjoy with this book, was well... I can't tell you, because it's no fun to find out something juicy about a book, from someone other than yourself reading it.

So on that note, you wanna know, pick up the book and read it.

You'll get to see more Norse Gods, and other creatures, and and interesting end that I'm pretty excited to find out more about. And of course Oberon, is amazing as usual, I'm always busting up laughing at things he says, which makes it even funnier when I do it while working, and everything is in a quiet period.

Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles are definitely a must read, especially if you dig mythology, witty characters, and lots of laughs.

Upcoming Reads January 2019

WARNING, LONG POST!

With the year almost over... GOODBYE 2018, and HELLO 2019. Can you believe that in just one years from a week away from now, that we will be back into the ROARING 20's? Crazy huh!

I still stand by the Jetson's ruined my adulthood, but I still am not seeing flying cars (though I hear they're working on that), and we're not able to go to the mall on other planets. Still it's pretty cool, because the advancements in technology alone, help a dreamer dream big, and make their dreams come true.

Anywho enough with my 2020 rant, that's still a little over a year away, but let's move onto 2019 which is only a week away, OH MY GOODNESS!

Starting in 2019, i'm getting that reading list setup, and down below are my ten books to read for the Month of January...so here we go.

The Indecisiveness of my Inner workings

So I know in  Previous post, I had mentioned that I was giving up my Blog here at Blogspot. Well with tinkering with both Blogger and Wordpress. I've decided I like them both for what they can provide. However, with wordpress you are limited on what you can and can't do without having to pay for it.

At this time I'm sticking with the free version of Wordpress, but i'm also going to keep my Blogger account as well.

This blog has been an intricate part of my life for 7 years now.

So I've done some work on it, cleaned it up and updated somethings, and as for now i'm quite pleased with the way it's looking.

So if you want you can follow me on both blogs, however content will be the same on both.

Definitely going to be looking for more followers, and i'm going to try to start reviewing again, still only limited to a few books a month.

All that will be worked out later, but for now i'm just going to enjoy the books I have on my TBR, which is ALOT! And continue doing what I do.

Review: Two Ravens and One Crow

Two Ravens and One Crow by Kevin Hearne

A quick and interesting read in between books. This short story takes us 6 years after the last book. Which means Granuiale is 6 years into her training. However, she doesn't appear much in this book. No this book is set around Atticus and Moriganne. This story definitely sets up for another big battle to come, it was fun to read. Gave me laughs, and OMG NO's, and even the rare aww moments.

Review: Tricked

Ok so this is number 4, of the Iron Druid chronicles. And I quite enjoy how the series is progressing. Between Atticus teaching Granuaille how to become a Druid, his own growth. As well finding out more on his back story. Oberon that dog is the funniest thing ever. I would literally bust out laughing at some of the things he said.

Things I enjoyed about this book besides Oberon, is the budding relationship between Atticus and Granuaille. Not only is she becoming a predominant character in the series, making her an important part of the series. The most intriguing part is the actual relationship between them. There maybe some heat there later down the road.

There was so much going on this book, but it didn’t seem overcrowded or rushed, it all for in perfectly with the entire storyline.

The things I didn’t like, erm big ass bugs. Nuff said.

Most Intriguing one of the series

Well finally finished this book. I’ve been reviewing this series since the beginning and it’s nice that I get to see and what these characters grow and what becomes of them. This one I have to say is probably my favorite. I don’t know if it’s because of their tragic pasts, or the fact that it was more story and less bedroom play, I just don’t know but it was a really good story and ending with the start of Sylvie and Gannon’s goodness gracious, that one is going to be one hellfire of a story.

Review: Burned

Got so engrossed,

I got so engrossed, I was reading the descriptions at the end before I realized I was at the end of the story. I’m so glad that this story is continuing even if it’s under a different series title. Every single one of these books are so engrossing it’s ridiculous sometimes. Like right now, I’m sitting outside on my porch, puffing on my vape (trying to quit smoking) but I’ve been out here standing, with my iPad sitting on the railing reading the end of the book. Who care that my lips are dry and my feet are starting to hurt slightly, that’s how much I was engrossed in this book.

Review: Caressed by Shadows

Number 4 of the Rulers of Darkness Series.
This book focused on Sonya and Falcon.
Now if you read the previous booms you’d know they both had a thing for each other, but because of vampiric laws they could not be together. Or the consequences would be dire. However, things done always work they are supposed to and well stuff happens. Especially when you got a young Shaman priestess hanging about.

This book honestly for me, was a in between book. The book that I’m more excited to read is the next one Caressed by the Edge of Darkness. This one while it was still a great book, just didn’t float my boat like the others have. Though I do like the Shaman Priestess and am highly intrigued on what her plan is and what the end game is for it.

Review:
It’s been a while since I’ve read the other two collection books from this series. But it really doesn’t matter as while they all play their part in making the next story, it’s not relevant that I don’t really remember what happened in the [ast 6 books, that deters me from getting involved with this set.
From the moment I picked this book up and finally decide to read it, I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down. Starting from 7 with The Huntress it could’ve even been its own series entirely. A great urban fantasy right there. Then with Black Dawn, it just took it a little further bringing more of this world into the mixed, especially with its different setting. Finally, with A Circle Daybreak, it sort of mixes things up, making you think about things a little differently, especially with new characters coming into the mix, and things like ancient beings such as dragons. Circle Daybreak, I didn’t exactly know who the wild power was from the get-go like I did with the others, and it intrigued me even more. But once the wild power finally was revealed it was probably one of the best ways it could be done.

Pros of this book and the Author:
L.J. Smith has always had some of the best writing that I have read. She definitely knows how to get an audience intrigued, no matter how old the books get. Also with using Millenial, instead of using a date most will know when this takes place from when the books were originally written, but for present and future readers, it doesn’t make you think of the year in specific. Her worlds are so detailed, and the character build up is pretty immaculate. When I first tried reading the Vampire Diaries, I couldn’t seem to get into it, because I had already started watching the show and the characters were completely different in the show then they were in the book. However, after reading these I might give it another go at some point in time.
Con’s of this book and the Author:
Well, the only cons I have is that it would be great to have the last book in this series. I understand it had to be put on the back burner because of her hits like Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle. But it is due time for the ending of this series. My one complaint is that Ms. Smith can’t come up with a factual and legitimate timeline of the release (If there is actually going to be one) of this book. Or at least let the fan base and readers know, “Hey I’m sorry I will not be finishing this series, I apologize for keeping you hanging”. But in all honesty that’s exactly what’s going on, you read this, you get involved in it, and then boom dropped like a bad habit. It’s in poor taste in my opinion. So maybe hopefully one day we will actually see Strange Fate on Amazon, B&N and the like.
