MY REVIEW:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was given this book, in exchange for my honest opinion. So here it goes.

What a wonderful book, it really shows you how hard life really is, and how one must struggle to survive. Jackson Haddock well this man is no different, he had suffered a lot and learned a lot in his short life. This was filled with blood, mercy, social standings, gun toting men. Beautiful women were also included into this book. Love was a big thing in this book as well as revenge. I would recommend this book to anyone, just because it's such a heart felt book. The struggles and rewards it was spectacular. Thank you Shanora for approaching me with your book, I'm glad you did cause I really liked it.

MY REVIEW:
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I gave this 2 stars because it was just a ho hum book. While it has potential and I adored the plot of it, I think it could've been better as a full book instead of a novella, where more details and backstory could've been added. But with this book I was pretty much bored through it all, and it's only 25 pages. The sex scene was pretty tame compared to some of the books I have read that belong into the erotica genre. Usually when reading erotica your blood heats up and your temperature rises. But this book while it ended with a happy ending, it just left me feeling cold.

MY REVIEW:
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is dark and cryptic. It took me a little over a week to finish reading this book. It wasn't the best book I read and I can't say I loved it, but I didn't dislike it either. I will continue to read this series, because I am quite intrigued to see what happens next.

REVIEW:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review. And well here it is...
This is a book I would want to read over an over. It caught my interest from the beginning, and when I say it kept my interest, I mean it kept me up all night long I think I went to sleep at 7:30 this morning, with 91% read by the time I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Then of course I finished it up this afternoon. This is a cross I feel between Young Adults, and Urban Fantasy. It's a book that older teens and Adults of all ages could enjoy.

This is about a girl name Cal (Caledonia)who lives with her parents in the middle of no where in Eureka. She was happy in ignorant of the world outside. But then her parents die in a tragic accident and she is sent to live with her aunt she never even knew about. She's overwhelmed by everything, cause not only is the world new to here, but she can see people's emotions. So she tries get through her day with her head low, disappearing into the world. Until she catches the eye of one seemingly bad boy named Cal (Calvin). Quinky dink on the names right, I think it's cute. But one night she rescues Calvin from getting beat up by some "ruffians". And from there, he was drawn to her, falling more and more in love with her each day. She made him feel alive, and made him look towards the future, and he showed her things of the world, loving the way she would light up with everything. They fell in love, and it was a great kind of love. Soul mate kind of love.

However, every story needs it's conflict, something that throws a wrench into things. Well of course this one isn't any exception. Come to find out the reason to why Caledonia is the way she is with her being able to see emotions. Her parents were part of an experiment that was supposed to messed with their genes, instead it messed with their heirs genes. So Caledonia, and this other girl Lyla both have two different color eyes and both can see and through emotions. Professor Teddy the one who has orchestrated the Athena project. He finds out about Caledonia and wants her so he kidnaps her. he's pretty weird making the children live in rooms made up like dollhouses and dressed them in like 50's styled clothing very odd. But Cali wasn't buying any of it. She wanted out, she wanted to get back to Calvin, and Calvin is trying to get Cali back. Well Calvin does find her, Caledonia climbs down a bedsheet to get to her love.

Well Max, The head of Professor Teddys guards, he had something up his sleeve, and after Cali escaped, he revealed to Professor Teddy that he wiped him out financially and has is taking the twins with him, and that he has his own plans for them. Which makes you think UH OH & YAY another book.

I cannot wait until then next book is out, this is a series I could really sink my teeth into.

REVIEW:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a story id believe in myself, the whole soulmates through eternity. This book is about Regin the Radiant and her soulmate Aiden the Fierce. They were fated and doomed to be together. As a child Regin met Aiden, he told her that one day she'd be his wife. 9 years later Regin seeks out Aiden, had told her that once he receives ohalla they would be wed. However one night coming home from a night of battle, in berserker rage, he had claimed Regin, thus unjustly dying in the after throws of their love making. 1000 years later about after already four recarniates of Aiden, Declan Chase number five of Aiden recarniates, comes into the picture. But he doesn't know that he's Aiden, Regin's destined lover. the real kicker is that Declan Chase is part of the Order. A group of human militants, who are seeking to end the abominations of the Lore. They seek, capture, torture, research, and terminate immortals. So one night out with Nix, Regin ends up fighting some members of the order, kicking asa too until Chase comes up and attacks her making her another one of the orders captives. During the time in captive Regin, who already knows that Chase is Aidens reincarnate, is torn between sparing another dead of her destined, and repeating history to save her friends of the lore. throughout the book so tries to seduce him slowly working her way into him, until something bad happens and the shoe is on the other foot. cant go into much detail about don't wanna ruin the whole story from you. but an adventure takes place, things happen *wink wink* bad things happen *grins* but in the end sacrifices are made, things turn out differently than expected....and this has got to be my favorite out of the series, loved them all but this tops them for now.

AWESOME NEWS!

Ok so you know I'm a book reviewer, and well I'm making my way through the trenches and making connections as much as I can.

Well... about a week ago I saw an opportunity that could be fun, and probably beneficial to me later down the road. I just couldn't pass it up, and well it's a good thing I didn't pass it up.

BECAUSE.....

well I am pleased to let you all know that I am now part of a team, I'm now a REVIEWER for: BTS Emag

This was quoted, from one of my team members here's the link to the blog http://iamindeed.wordpress.com/
"While this is a new position for myself and the company, and there are all of the specifics to be determined yet – this opportunity offers readers and reviewers exposure to a far larger audience than they might otherwise reach with a traditional book blog. The last issue was 52 pages - all about books. In all genres."

This is all new to me, and I'm pretty sure it will be fun and exciting, and I can't wait to get started.

but at anyrate HOORAH FOR ME! and making the connections I've been making.

MY REVIEW:
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Is it bad to say that I had liked this book, when Ever was all messed up? Well I did, the rest of it when she wasn't being all um best word for it is "cracked out" it was kinda dull and hard to get through but when she was obsessed with Roman, and all that I got through pretty quickly. I feel bad though for Ever and Damon not being able to touch each other must be rough, I'm hoping they can find a way to break that.

Quinns Checks In: Blog Tour

Quinn Checks In
(A Liam Quinn Mystery)
By L.H. Thomson
Series: Liam Quinn Mysteries
Genre: Hard-boiled mystery

A synopsis of “Quinn Checks In,” by L.H Thomson:
Liam Quinn is back in his hometown Philly after three years in the pen for forgery. Now the ex-boxer, ex-art student has been given a chance to make amends by working as an insurance investigator, restoring a little of his family's pride and getting another chance at Nora Garcia de Soria, the woman of his dreams.
But a gallery heist isn't what it seems, and pretty soon, Quinn is running out of people to trust. The biggest mobster in town, a sweetheart named "Vin The Shin," is calling him out; a steady string of lowlifes want his head, and the local police think he's hiding something.
Hey, when trouble comes knocking?
That's when Quinn Checks In.

Reviews for “Quinn Checks In”:
(What Others are Saying about this book)

Four Stars from #1 ranked, #1 followed Goodreads.com Reviewer Jennifer Hall, AKA Traveller:
“Here is a PI story that doesn't deal in death, that doesn't reflect just black-and-white, and that makes you wonder where the Quinn series is going to go. I for one, certainly plan to find out, and have booked a copy of the next Quinn already. Oh, and not to mention: there's a little dash of romance as well, that keeps you wondering about how it will develop as the series continues.
“Time will tell, but for now, I'm with Quinn.”

Five Stars from R.P. Dahlke, author of the popular Lalla Bains series:
“Liam dodges bullets, punches… okay, some not so much, mob-types, and all sorts of lovely women in this bright, witty and wonderfully complex first in the Liam Quinn mystery series.
“Highly recommended!”

Five Stars from Goodreads.com reviewer Beverly Ashauer:
“Throw in some fist fights, murders, family problems and a mom who wants him home every Sunday for dinner and you have a really great book. Oh, and I forgot about the girl he has loved forever, but can't get up the nerve to tell her. Quinn's life is quite an action-packed adventure. I will certainly read more books by this author and hope he has a long series with Liam Quinn as the main character!”
Excerpts from “Quinn Checks In”:

From Chapter One:
IN ART, THE ARC OF A CURVE can be a beautiful and important thing. In Art Deco, for example, the consistency of its curves gives each design a sense of cleanliness and function, of uniformity.
When I was an art forger, a perfect curve was one of my best friends.
So believe me when I say that the arc of the pool cue slicing through the air towards my head was a thing of beauty, a mighty cut that in that split second, with Boston’s classic rocker “Smoking” cranking on the jukebox in the corner, made me wonder why the giant biker swinging it had opted for a life of vice and violence, instead of baseball.
My name is Liam Quinn, and I’ve been a fighter most of my life. One of the blessings of two decades of boxing has been a sort of athletic sixth sense. Some pros call it being “in the zone”, that split second where your adrenalin peaks, your instincts take over, and everything just seems to slow…
Right.
Down.
I ducked, dropping between the two tree-trunk arms around my chest, and the pool cue continued its arc. If he’d swung with a tighter reach, instead of stepping into it so directly, he’d have come up short and gone over my head while still missing his enormous bald-and-goateed companion.
But then it wouldn’t have been perfect.
Instead, the cue smashed into his buddy’s temple with a hollow clack, like a brick dropped on hard cement.

From Chapter Two:
MY FAMILY’S NEIGHBORHOOD is called Fishtown, and it’s about as glamorous as the name sounds.
The narrow old brick-and-wood buildings are attached, block on block, crammed together tight, tall and skinny, dark hues and wood shingle siding. Many of them are multi-family and still others – like my parents’ house – were just the most that young immigrant families could ever hope to afford back in the day. The streets between them are no wider than modern alleys, decades of beaten down, repaired and patched asphalt worn to a near-glassy smoothness in the occasional spot.
The neighborhood has been filled for years by the ranks of the blue-collar working man: firefighters, cops, dock workers, construction workers, garbage men, mailmen, teachers and transit drivers, all crammed in with their wives and husbands and kids and grandparents, like shoes stored in a box one size too small, then piled on top of one another in a corner cupboard.
Nearly everyone here is Irish, or Italian or Russian. But everyone displays their Star Spangled Banner in some prominent spot on their house and means it, too. Every person here, no matter how well off they’ve been, has a father or a grandfather who’s willing to smack them silly still, and sit them down and lecture them about life in the old country, and how good they’ve got it now.
In summer, when the mercury climbs high, the humidity swelters and the sidewalk feels like it might melt, the close quarters can boil over into trouble, with nowhere good for all of that pressure to go, long-time next-door neighbors coming to rapid blows in short, unsustainable explosions of passion.
But more usually, you see the best in people, a kind of hum of activity as they blow off that steam, of guys in football jerseys and long shorts swapping stories on the stoops while sharing a tall boy, and kids playing in the street, hanging around Central Pizza for a slice or a hoagie, maybe cooling off under an open hydrant; it’s a real village in the city, if you come from here.
Even though it’s gotten a little more upscale in recent years, with musicians and artists enjoying the affordability, people have thought of Fishtown as low-rent for years. But that’s fine with us. When you lived here, you at least knew who your neighbors were. My parents, Al and Maureen, raised five kids in one of the those tiny houses, with my dad walking a beat for twenty years and manning a precinct desk job for another ten after that.

My Review:
Quinn Checks In
5 out of 5 stars
It’s not often that I would use movies as a reference but this book reminded me of a more PG version of Boondock Saints, except that it was set in Philadelphia, PA, instead of the Boston Area.  The reason to why it reminds me of this movie is because of the fact that you’ve got a tight knit community. Where a bar or pub, whichever you prefer to call it, where your treated like family. And the good guy goes out to catch the bad guy that is messing with someone in his community, differences are that, Quinn isn't a vigilante, his father wasn't harmed in anyway, and it's only one guy instead of two. I think it was the tight knit community, and the pub, and the fact Quinn goes out and kicks some major tail. This is basically set in neighborhoods that are filled with Blue collar workers, most of them being cops whether retired or active.
What surprised me most is that Quinn, who is obviously the main character was an ex-boxer, ex-con, who loves art and painting. It’s not very often that you see character such as this.  Which in the whole made it more intriguing to read this book; it starts off with him finishing up one of his cases.  Then goes into where he picks up a major case, and then picks up another case which is slightly minor to the bigger case, also pays out more.  With Quinn being an ex-con his job resources were highly limited so his childhood best friend’s dad, had given him a chance as an Insurance Investigator that only works on commission.
So he starts working on both cases the major one being an art gallery robbery, the minor being a robbery at a stadium, with about a dozen kegs stolen. Throughout this story Quinn meets up with some interesting characters and some quite scary (like mob scary). He runs through putting puzzle pieces together about both cases, plus kicking some major ass in the meantime, and all done without guns, quite masterful if you ask me. It’s like Jason Statham without his guns, but still kicking major ass.
All in all its one hell of a book, it’s got some crime drama, some mystery, some action, and it also kind of reminds me of Scooby-Doo when Velma figures out the bad guy and goes to unmask him. And I LOVE Scooby-Doo!  This is not my typical genre that I read, but I’m going to say I am quite excited about Quinn’s next book. Wonder what trouble he’ll get himself into this time, and maybe JUST maybe he’ll finally tell Nora what he feels. So we shall see.

Guest Post:
From Author L.H. Thomson

I'd like to think the sure sign you've gotten inside a character's skin as a writer  is when readers start to assume you based the character on yourself.
That's happened three times already with my novel Quinn Checks In, a self-pub that has only been out for a few months, and each time it gave me a big kick. In each case, I think the person was a little disappointed that I'm not, in fact, a rugged ex-boxer, ex-art forger with a large Irish family and a rusting '81 Firebird.
In fact, I've conclusively lost most of the fights I've been in, my one attempt at forgery-- a school pass in the mid ‘80s -- landed me three hours of detention, and the only thing I have left from that decade are awkward teenage memories and a MuchMusic "The Nation's Music Station" sweatshirt.
Certainly not a Firebird, the groovy muscle machine also once driven by the great Jim Rockford.(The Rockford Files was a detective show back in...oh, never mind. A long time ago.)
Sightless impressions are like that; we're inevitably disappointed, like that blind date you get your hopes up for, only to discover that you're going to have to spend all night concentrating really hard on the person's inner beauty. It reminds me of an episode of That 70s show, the sitcom from a few years back, in which the lead Eric is awed at meeting Jerry Thunder, his radio idol.... only to discover he's about 5'5 and a reject from a community college instructors' look-alike contest.
I felt a little the same way the first time I saw Bill Maher live and realized he's kind of a tiny guy, compared to my six-foot-two inches of gawkiness. Not that it hurts him romantically, as I understand he's quite the ladies’ man.
Me? Thank goodness my wife took pity.
A book I'm working on right now has the issue of appearance at its heart. Tentatively titled "A Dove Flew West," it's the story of youths growing up in the great city of Cordoba in the 11th century. The city was controlled by a Muslim caliphate, and modesty is central to Islamic theology. It's a significant challenge to find enough research in order to paint a complete picture of life at that time; but I like to think it might be a useful and honest book, based as it is in allegorical comparisons with some of the issues the various faiths face today. It's been just as hard to get the little details right; for example, I'm waiting for the first keen observer to point out to me that there are Orange groves behind the Great Mosque in Cordoba, when in fact they weren't planted until the 15th century; or that you can't travel downstream from Cordoba to Seville, when in fact the Guadalquivir River (from the Arabic Al-Wahdi Al-Qibir, or the Great River), once flowed freely between the two.
Things change a lot in ten centuries!

MY REVIEW:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First I just want to say "flippin gnomes", haha they were too funny. But ok on a serious note, the last book left us, with Mallory trying to destroy Chicago, and bringing Ethan back into our lives, Thank you Ms. Neill. This book starts us off with Merit and Ethan heading to Nebraska, to make sure Mallory doesn't get her hands on the Malificium. On the way they encounter Tate, who pretty much made their lives flip over for a minute. Once they've regathered their wits they finally make their destination, and this is where we meet a new character in the book, the Sorceress Paige. She is the Orders, archivist. Her house is filled with books, I mean everywhere stacked in neat piles all over. But she's the current protector of the Malificium. Any way, the place where it's kept is an old military silo, and they were so sure that it was safe. That was until Mallory decided to make an appearance, but before hand during a romantic interlude between Merit and Ethan, they meet a fiesty gnome name "Todd" well Todd and the other gnomes try to help Merit and Ethan with Mallory, it didn't go as well as planned. The end result of small battle (no pun intended), was that Mallory and thus beknown Tate have gotten a hold of Paige, and wouldn't you know it, the Malificium. Mallory starts the spelled needed to whatever she needed to do, to the book but while she is doing it, Tate touches the book and Splits apart. NO JOKE, I mean literally was ripped in two. Well come to find out they're angels one on the side of good, and the other welp i'm sure you've guessed but the other was a fallen angel, who by the way is a messenger of justice. So the fallen angel Tate, who's name is Dominic, starts killing people, in the eye of justice. So in this book Merit and the gang try to help Mallory over come her addiction to dark magic, with the help of Gabriel and his pack. Deal with the GP who is still hell in their lives, and Ethan's connection to Mallory, and Dominic's need to serve Justice. Well lets just say at the end of this book, we got a few happy endings. And maybe a revolt against the GP???

“Girl, you’re the Sentinel of this House, and you’ve been trained by Catcher and Luc and Ethan. He’s in the training room right now. Get down there and kick his ass!”

Bored at College today

if you've read my bio I've made up you know that I'm in college full time... well does this tell you what kind of a day I've had today.I was bored listening to my professor in philosophy, he always is so random, but a very sweet man, and he tries to keep things interesting, but while I was listening to him talk, I started writing, first I wrote my Review for Envy. Which is funny considering I hadn't even finished it up yet, though, you knew it was basically winding down from where I was at, so I knew the gist of what it was about. Then after I was done with that I started writing again, only this time it was ideas of where my book is heading, so I jotted down some ideas, and then actually started writing pieces to it. This process lasted throughout the rest of my school day when I had gotten the chance.  I had gotten quite a bit written, now I just need to muster up the energy to type it all in. LOL! Funny how creativity hits you at odd times, at least this time I had a pencil and paper handy to jot it all down.

MY REVIEW:
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While I think that Ms. Ward is losing her flare in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I feel that she's just getting warmed up on the Fallen angels series. Covet I felt was a really good book as well as Crave. Envy I think that not that the series has its feet wet, it's going in a good direction. I also like how coming from Crave where the good guys had lost I think that sets the series on a whole different level. Where it has a story within the story, and though the angels lost a soul, another had gotten their HEA.

In envy Veck, is the son of a mass serial killer, He constantly lives in the shadow of his father, always haunted by the potential of becoming just like him. He knows there is an evil residing within him, but he doesn't realize that it is an actual demon inside him. Heron and his buddies have to try to sway him from going to the side of evil, thus giving Devina another win, and basically closer to hell on earth. Veck at the beginning of the book believes he harmed another serial killer, but he didn't he is then partnered to the IA's office Sophie Reilly, during the book Weck falls for Reilly and her him, but things get shaky when someone betrays him, costing him almost his lover and his sanity.

End results- the good guys won though one of them is lost and another takes more action in the game, an another can't fully pull his head out of his ass to figure out that more is needed to win this war instead of sitting on their tufts sipping tea and playing crochet.

What I love about Wards books, is that she isn't afraid to tip the bar. Using her graphiic wording to make the sexual scene more drool worthy, whether it be a man/woman couple, same sex couple, or a multiple partner in one time scene. She doesn't discriminate on her characters, and her characters aren't discriminative unless they are meant to be that way.

The action in this one was a sub-par compared to other books, I like her books not only because of the uber super hot guys, and that omg that got my panties wet sex scenes. But I enjoy the action as well. But all in all Ward had succeeded in making me hot and bothered and made me crave for more also making me root for the good guys even more.

Sorry this review is so long.
