Review: Her Fiery Viking

Her Fiery Viking Her Fiery Viking by A.J. Tipton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Her Fiery Viking

I've received this book in place of an honest review. This is a short read, it's a prelude to the series itself. It's based around a extremely old Viking named Mikkel and a very angry modern day woman named Joanna. They meet at work, and she is a complete bombshell of rage and hate. He is a man cursed for a lifetime.

This book was very quick and there was no time for build up. It was literally a wham bam thank you ma'am book. They saw each other, the fire lit in the nether regions. One night of drinking and they were all over each other.

The premises of the story and series has some good intentions. But I really enjoy the build up of hints especially romances. This just didn't sit well with me. Though, I am curious about Lola. She seems to be a pivotal character in this series. So though this story was extremely short, there was no build up, and a minor action scene. I would like to give this series more of a chance and see what comes of it before I decide whether or not it's a series I can get into.

Review: Caressed by a Crimson Moon

Caressed by a Crimson Moon Caressed by a Crimson Moon by Amanda J. Greene
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caressed by a Crimson Moon

I was given this book in place of an honest review. This is the third book in the "Rulers of Darkness" series. This story takes place surrounding Hadrian the Vampire King who threw himself into exile, because he was going crazy; and Eva a halfbreed shifter. Eva was the bastard daughter of the Alpha of her shifter pack, taken nine years ago after the death of her mother. She was treated poorly because of her halfbreed lineage. Hadrian who has just recently came out of exile and is preparing for his descent back into his clans world, wants to honor a treaty made three hundred and fifty years ago with the shifters, has Falcon go and claim what is rightfully his. The alpha isn't to thrilled about this scenario and refuses to send one of his pure looks daughters to the mad king, so instead he sends Eva his halfbreed daughter, in hopes that the mad king will take care of his dirty work for him. Instead of Hadrian killing Eva like the Alpha was hoping for, he finds something else in Eva.....hope.

As the other two books I have read in this series this one didn't fail to suck me in. However, this one was just a little different than the others. Because one: There is something more to Eva that meets the eye; two: instead of some huge raging battle being prepared for throughout the book, the big battle is actually the battles that Hadrian has to face about himself, and the secrets that are unfolded with Eva. Now don't get me wrong there is a battle scene in this book, but it's pretty bleh compared to the others. However, this book adds a few more pieces that will be unfolded in further books, that of course will keep you hanging on the edge of your seat and keep you wanting more. It sure has me, and I cannot wait to read more of this series.

Review: They Mostly Come Out At Night

They Mostly Come Out At Night They Mostly Come Out At Night by Benedict Patrick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

They Mostly Come Out at Night

I was given this book in place of an honest review.

They Mostly Come out at Night is a story that revolves around a young man named Lonan. Lonan lives in a small village and is the outcast, he was blamed for some damages and deaths that had happened when he was a child. In this world people have skills called knacks these knacks give a person their purpose in life, every knack has its own special ability. Like healing gives you extra strength and power to help those in need. Cooking you make the most mouth watering meals etc. Lonan though is knack less which makes him being the outcast ever more so.

One day though Lonan starts having these dreams. Dreams of the forest protector for many centuries this protector is called the "Magpie King" in these dreams he sees the life of the prince Adhaly, each dream shows him something different. Lonan thinks they are of things in the present though he comes to learn different on that. These dreams however shape his course and lead him to his destiny.

This book was very well created. The story was clear and concise. The world was created beautifully. However when I first started reading this book I must say I was completely confused on what it was about. However between the folklore stories within the book and the story itself helped bring everything into fruition and it all made sense in the end. This book even had a twist that even I did not see coming. Which actually complimented Lonan's story even more. What I didn't like about this book is that once things really got going for Lonan the book felt rushed, while leading up to it at some points nuts dragged on. Otherwise the book itself as a whole is quite good and deserving of a 4 star review.
